Customs code for clothing (HS 61 and 62)

Knitted → chapter 61; woven → chapter 62. This is the first question to ask.
Composition by weight decides the subheading (Section XI, note 2). Cashmere and other fine animal hair count as "fine animal hair" (chapter 51, note 1 b).
The intended users (men or women) separate 6103 from 6104, and 6203 from 6204.
Example (demo case): a knitted polyester dress falls under 6104, not 6204, which covers woven fabric.
Example "hs code dress": women's woven cotton dress → 6204 42; knitted cotton → 6104 42.
