The “Import duties” card on the product sheet

    Product management

    1

    Principle

In each country tab with a final code, the “Import duties” card shows the published normal duty (third-country duty in the European Union, general rate in the United States), its dated official source and a link to the code in the source. No amount is calculated: the customs value is not known.

    2

    Country of origin missing

If the country of origin is not entered, a single notice says so, with the “Enter the origin” button that takes you to the field on the left of the sheet. The preferential rate and additional duties depend on the origin: no origin is presumed.

    3

    Preferential origin on import

When an agreement links the country of origin and the destination, the preferential rate is shown with the proof of origin to provide. It only applies with proof of origin; otherwise the normal duty applies.

    4

    Additional duties and quotas

Origin-related measures (anti-dumping, quotas; in the United States, Chapter 99 duties) are shown from the sources consulted, with their date. A question may be asked when a measure depends on a condition we cannot check. In the United States, the "Import duties payable" box at the top of the card brings together the general rate and each established additional duty; the total as a percentage of the customs value is shown only if the official text provides for cumulation and no question is pending (no amount is calculated).

    5

    Duty history

Folded at the bottom of the card, depending on your plan: archived rates with their change date.
