The customs supporting document

When it is available

The “Customs justification” button is active as soon as the code is final (terminal line of the nomenclature). As long as a question is open, it is greyed out.

What it contains

A PDF that sets out, for one jurisdiction:

• the official path of the code with the nomenclature labels
• the reasoning level by level and the GIR applied
• the texts quoted word for word (notes, HSEN/CNEN explanatory notes)
• the facts retained and the source of each: declared, photo, customer answer, standing instruction
• the answers with date and author, contradictions and their resolution
• a fingerprint of the document and of the corpus version

What it is not

The justification is neither a Binding Tariff Information (BTI) nor a legal opinion.

Older classifications

If the traces of a classification are incomplete or if the code has been changed since, the justification is not produced and the reason is shown.
