What the photo does (and does not do)

What the photo does

It answers closed questions about visible properties, when the classification needs them.

• Fictitious example: direction of closure of a jacket (left over right)
• Presence of a hood, a collar, long sleeves

What it does not do

It never establishes the material, composition, weight, value or use. It does not replace a declared fact.

Consistency check

An image that does not match the description is set aside and not used; the sheet says so.

In the product sheet

The Photo section shows what the photo was used to observe, or “not used” with the reason.
