English description of items (US invoices)

    Why

    A US invoice must describe the item in English (19 CFR 141.86(d)). No invoice to the United States is produced, on the website or from Shopify, until you have confirmed this description.

    Where

    On the product sheet, United States tab, “English description (US invoice)” card. It is shown if your plan includes the customs invoice and the French description is not empty.

    Propose or enter

    “Propose a translation” has the AI propose a text, free of charge, with no credit. You can also enter or correct the text yourself.

    • A proposal that does not keep the figures or references is rejected
    • If the daily AI limit is reached, enter the description yourself

    Confirm

    Review the text, then click “I confirm this English description”. Only a confirmed description is used on the invoice. The confirmation date is shown on the card.

    If the French description changes

    The confirmation only applies to the current French description. If it changes, the card says so: review and confirm again.

    The English description applies to every jurisdiction of the reference. It does not change the code.
